County Roads Maintenance

Now recruiting for Seasonal Road Crews in Josephine County. This job includes heavy labor, such as digging and shoveling; brooming, loading and unloading of materials; and manually removing dirt and debris from job sites. These tasks require physical strength and stamina, sometimes under difficult or uncomfortable working conditions. A clean driving record, drug screen and criminal background is required.

 Seasonal Road Crew Job Responsibilities:

•  Dig ditches, clean and install culverts or drain tiles
•  Cut and spray brush
•  Remove obstacles from roadways and adjacent areas
•  Unload heavy materials
•  Install and repairs guardrails, signposts, and others as necessary 
•  Direct truck drivers to the proper location for dumping material
•  Flag traffic around hazards or crews in roadways
•  Simple repairing of road surfaces, such as removing loose material, hand spreading of sand and asphalt, bridgework, or other works as directed

 Road Crew Position Requirements:

• Employees must be at least 18 years old
• Excellent physical condition with strength and stamina required for heavy manual labor in all kinds of weather
• Maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public

 Road Crew Job Screening:

• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
• MUST HAVE a valid Driver's license and a good driving record
• Possession of a valid Flagger's Certification Card and a valid Defensive Driving/Safe Driving card of certificate completion preferred - or ability to obtain both certifications within 30 days of appointment
