PAY RATE: $20.48/HR.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for work involving the operation of all vehicles in the Solid Waste Department. Work is reviewed through oral and written reports, discussion, and results obtained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operates one or more of the following most of the workday on an assigned basis:

Rear-end loading refuse trucks
-
Front-end loading refuse trucks
-
Automated side-loading refuse trucks
-
Grappler trucks
-
Container delivery trucks
-
Pick-up trucks, some with automated lift gate
-
Lawn maintenance equipment
-
May occasionally perform the duties of a Refuse Collector.

Washes, cleans and provides pre- and post-trip inspection of assigned equipment.

Performs manual labor tasks as assigned, such as general debris clean-up and collection.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of solid waste collection and delivery equipment.

Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions accurately to ensure proper equipment operation and waste management procedures.

Ability to clearly communicate with team members and supervisors regarding equipment status, routes, and operational updates.

Ability to manage time effectively to complete tasks within established deadlines and optimize collection routes.

Strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to apply them to ensure a safe work environment for self and others.

Skills in maintaining accurate and detailed written records, including equipment logs and route information.
Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an equivalent diploma.
Certificates and Licenses:
-
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class B CDL and be insurable by the City’s current insurance provider.

Must obtain NIMS 100, 200 and 700 within twelve (12) months of employment.
