Starting Salary of $49,591.36 upon hire and salary is adjusted to $60,365.76 after approval from medical director.

Position Summary:
Provides Emergency Medical Services and Fire Suppression for Plant City.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.

Provide emergency medical services a required and perform light to heavy rescue functions at emergencies.

Performs general maintenance duties for fire station. Cleans and maintains fir stations and firefighting equipment and apparatus.

Conducts on the job training.

Maintains fire suppression equipment in good condition, checking equipment periodically to ensure that it is ready for use.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic life support procedures and protocols.

Knowledge of standard firefighting and fire prevention procedures.

Ability to effectively administer first aid and basic emergency medical services.

Ability to safely and effectively combat and extinguish fires.

Ability to learn and comply with department rules, regulations and policies.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle and learn the geography of the City, location of fire hydrants and major fire hazards.

Ability to communicate effectively and to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to remain calm and react quickly in emergencies.

Ability to meet and maintain departmental requirements of health, physical and mental conditions as established by Fire Rescue.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other City employees, outside agencies and the general public.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalency.
Certificates and Licenses:
-
Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Florida State Firefighters II Standards; Florida Emergency Medical Technician; and CPR.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

Must obtain Florida Paramedic certification within three (3) years of employment.
