MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST III-SEWER

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Collections Foreman, the Maintenance Specialist III is responsible for the installation of sewer lines, sewer service laterals, sewer main lines, and all related tasks. Supervise crew in assisting and ability to operate various equipment backhoe, loader, track-hoe, dump truck, ditch witch, tapping machine, and many pieces of related equipment. Experienced in the setup of pipe lasers and transit. Must be able to read and make functional changes on blueprints. Must be able to pour and finish concrete.

  • Keeps detailed records of all daily activities.

  • The ability to work in a high-stress area under time restraints.

  • Directs loading and unloading of trucks daily and must keep an accurate register of parts on those vehicles.

  • The ability to work in a responsible manner when dealing with customers and the public. Must have a professional appearance and mannerisms.

  • Work in or around traffic, working around underground utilities electric, gas, phone/ fiber optics, cable TV, Stormwater, sewer lines, etc.

  • Training in M.S.D.S., hand tool safety, driving safety, fire extinguisher use, confined space entry, equipment safety, heat stress, power tool, underground access, and other related fields is provided.

  • Highly skilled in the operation of heavy equipment, road saws, chop saws, backhoes, loaders, track-hoes, dump trucks, etc.

  • Must qualify for after hour call duty and be prepared to respond if needed to handle utility related issues.

  • All employees will be cross-trained in water, wastewater, and/or reclaimed water for equivalent positions. The employee may be directed to change positions at any time of employment without notice on a permanent or temporary basis.

Education and Experience:

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance repair and installation of wastewater utilities.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the operation of heavy equipment, backhoe preferred.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Possession of a Florida CDL Class “B” license.

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and must be insurable by the City’s current insurance provider. Required to obtain CDL Class “A” within one year of hire date.

  • Must attain a Level III Wastewater certification within 2 years of employment.

  • Must obtain Work Zone Safety Traffic Certification within 2 years of employment.
