Position Summary:
Semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining various parks, courts, ball fields, grounds, and facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.

Performs routine grounds and road right-of-way clearing and maintenance: cuts grass with power mowers, including push-type, zero-turn, or tractor mowers; uses string trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, blower; cleans and maintains grounds maintenance equipment; cuts, hoes and sprays weeds; trims and prunes shrubbery and small trees; rakes leaves and other debris; edges curbs; lays sod or seed as required; loads trash and trimmings onto a trailer or truck; sweeps or blows sidewalks and parking lots; cleans restrooms and floors; conducts litter removal; inspects and repairs irrigation systems; prepares areas for public use.

Prepares ball fields for play by measuring for field layout, paint or chalk lining, working clay, and setting up needed equipment.

Applies insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.

Makes daily written and oral reports.

Informs and assists public in the use of facilities.

Assumes all supervisory duties and responsibilities in the absence of immediate supervisor.

For declared disasters, position is considered “essential’; works with City crews during preparation and recovery operations (road clearing, debris removal from rights of way and city properties, inspection of facilities, etc.).

Education and Experience:

High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

Grounds maintenance experience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:

Valid Florida driver’s license. An acceptable driving history as approved by the City is required.
