We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Associate to join our team located in Peoria AZ. The ideal candidate will be integral to the success of our tax department. Your primary responsibility will be the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns, with a focus on personal taxes. You will also have exposure to, and occasional involvement with, business tax returns.

Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in the mentorship and development of junior tax associates, providing them with guidance, support, and training as needed. You will directly oversee the tax preparation performed by junior tax associates and review the returns they prepare for accuracy and completeness.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you will serve as the main point of contact for our clients’ personal tax questions. Your professionalism, expertise, and dedication to client satisfaction will be essential in fostering strong client relationships and ensuring their confidence in our firm's capabilities.

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8AM - 5PM

Pay rate: 30-50/hr. DOE and Education


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Reviews personal tax returns prepared by junior staff for accuracy and completeness.

· Provides technical feedback and training to junior staff as necessary.

· Acts as the point of contact for both clients and other staff for the work produced by a small team of associates.

· Consults with clients to develop an understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities.

· Reviews previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation.

· Calculates taxes owed or refunds due to clients; consults tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations.

· Presents approved returns to clients.

· Answers client questions concerning personal tax matters.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.


Skills:

· Intermediate to advanced understanding of personal tax laws and regulations.

· Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to effectively manage a small team to achieve firm goals.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

· Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Education and Experience:

· Enrolled Agent (EA) highly preferred.

· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or better with accounting coursework preferred.

· 3 – 5 years of experience with personal or business tax preparation required.

· 1 – 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
