The Manufacturing Engineer will develop, improve, and support manufacturing processes by analyzing the manufacturability of current products while providing cost savings in manufacturability and design. This individual will assist with the introduction of new products and will effectively provide implementation, support, and maintenance for all manufacturing information for existing products, components, and related procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Engineering department in various areas including, but not limited to: Product design, Product configuration, Manufacturing, Testing, Equipment selection, commissioning, and qualification (IQ, OQ, PQ).
- Support all releases of NPI, ECO, TDN, and PCN product releases for the Manufacturing Department.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
- Create and train on released Standard/Assembly Instructions & Test Procedures.
- Design, implement, and sustain tooling, fixtures, and jigs to aid in the manufacturing process, including preventative maintenance and calibration schedules/programs (related to IMTE Procedure).
- Analyze Bill of Materials (BOM) and related datasets to generate accurate product quotes.
- Serve as liaison between Engineering, Product Management, and Materials Departments to facilitate proper phase-in/phase-out of inventory.
- Support and assist with operation and training of operators on Surface Mount Technology (SMT).
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Health & Safety programs, Quality Systems, and Lean Enterprise practices.
- Drive continuous improvement through Engineering involvement in Quality and other cross-functional activities/events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering required; P. Eng. is considered an asset.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Lean Six Sigma certification and experience in electronics manufacturing preferred.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards required.
- Knowledge and experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) highly preferred.
- Understanding of PPAP, APQP, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, and SPC is a plus.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) preferred.

Work Schedule & Environment:
- Full-Time, 8-hour shift
- Standard Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (some flexibility may be required for production support)
- Moderate noise environment
- Frequent exposure to moving people and mechanical parts/machinery
- Occasional exposure to chemicals
Physical Requirements:
- Standing/walking for extended periods
- Regularly lifting loads under 10 lbs; occasionally up to 25 lbs
- Occasional bending and squatting
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
