2nd Shift Saw Operator
Shift: 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Summary
The Saw Operator is responsible for using plate and bar saws to cut materials according to customer specifications. This position requires mechanical expertise, precision, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operate one or more saws with expert mechanical skill
Process orders per customer cut-to-size specifications
Ensure all orders are completed accurately and on time
Pull, stage, and retrieve materials using forklifts or cranes
Measure materials precisely using tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
Input cutting specifications into the system
Safely operate cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment
Assist with packaging, shipping/receiving, and inventory counts
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Comply with all company safety rules and policies
Physical Requirements
Physical demands may include:
Sitting, standing, bending, twisting, crawling, and balancing
Use of hands and fingers
Speaking and listening
Close vision (within 36 inches)
Lifting and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs (assistance or lifting devices available)
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to noise, heat, humidity, and hazardous machinery
Good working conditions with the need for visual/auditory attention to identify maintenance needs

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience with saws and/or machinery
1+ years in a metals service center environment
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to read measurements and perform basic math
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
High integrity and team-oriented attitude
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of experience in the metals service center industry
