Job description
Metal Recycling Machine Operator - Heavy Duty $17-$20/hr (DOE)
Hours are 3:45pm to 2:15am
Working outdoors in the metal yard.
Responsibilities include:
1. Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
2. Operate, & maintain wire processing production equipment in the most proficient manner
3. Inspect finished product produced to ensure proper quality control standards are met
4. Attention to detail on all required operations
5. Utilize a rotating forklift to load, unload, and feed material through the plant
6. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant.
7. Meet established plant production goals, i.e. chop rates, change out times, shredding, etc
8. Attend all scheduled corporate training and required safety meetings
9. Perform limited maintenance on all equipment
10. All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge required:
- Proven experience as a machine operator
- Familiarity with PLC/computerized controls of production equipment
- Manufacturing knowledge
- Safe and proficient forklift operator.
- Mechanical aptitude-knowledge of hand tools, etc. to perform routine production maintenance

- Ability to work well under pressure with demands and deadlines
- Excellent presence and work ethic
- Teamwork and effective communication skills
PPE + Job Needs
Steel/composite toe boots required
Sit-down Forklift
Sleeved shirts (long or short sleeve). Long pants (no sweat pants)
Eye protection, safety vests, and ear protection are provided
30 minute lunch taken at 11:30, no other breaks
Screening conducted: Background checks + Drug screen
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Exposure may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, safety vest, hearing protectors, and steel toed work boots, with metal sole liners. As in most manufacturing jobs, the environment will be loud/noisy. Subject to regular bending, twisting, reaching, working overhead, and working above ground and/or on irregular surfaces.
