Retread Technician

Our client is seeking a Retread Technician in the Des Moines area. 

They will be responsible for inspecting, repairing and retreading tire, typically in a production line. Their duties include inspecting tire casings for damage, buffing away old tread, preparing the surface for new tread, applying new tread caps, and performing quality control checks. Some positions may also involve operating specialized equipment for retreading and curing tires.

Description:

• Inspection and Grading: Evaluating tire casings for damage and determining if they are suitable for retreading. 
• Casing Repair: Repairing damage to the tire casing, including embedded objects, rust, and other issues, using rubber cement or patches. 
• Tread Preparation: Buffing the tire casing to remove existing tread and preparing the surface for new tread. 
• Tread Application: Installing new tread caps or applying tread material to the tire casing. 
• Quality Control: Inspecting completed retreads for defects and conducting pressure tests and other safety checks. 
• Curing: Curing the retreaded tire to set the new tread

Skills:

• High school diploma or GED 
• Mechanical, construction or manufacturing experience
• Tire industry knowledge is a plus
