Job Description: Hostler Driver

Position Title: Hostler Driver
Department: Operations / Logistics
Location: Longmont, CO
Reports To: Ben Levine, VP of Operations

Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and efficient Hostler Driver to manage the movement and positioning of trailers and trucks within our facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that the transportation flow within the yard is optimized and seamless. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate a hostler truck to move trailers within the yard.
• Position and park trailers in designated areas as per instructions.
• Inspect hostler truck and trailers for safety, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
• Assist in loading and unloading trailers when needed.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of trailer movements. *Records must be submitted weekly to the accounting department
• Follow all company policies and safety protocols while driving and working within the yard.
• Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards immediately to the supervisor.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and truck drivers to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by management, including light maintenance tasks or yard clean-up.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience driving a hostler truck or similar equipment preferred.
• Has no conviction for a “serious or disqualifying traffic violation” within the last three (3) years.
• Has no conviction for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs violation within the past five (5) years.

•     Has no more than four (4) moving violations in the past 36 months, and no more than two (2) moving violations in the previous 12 months.

•     Has no preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years.

•     Has a minimum of two (2) years of experience operating tractor/trailer equipment.• Must be at least 23 years old.

• Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including walking, bending, and lifting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic understanding of trailer and truck operations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to bend, twist, and kneel frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a logistics, warehouse, or transportation environment.
• Previous experience in a similar position is an advantage.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work in a yard or warehouse environment, exposed to noise, and outdoor elements.
• Flexible hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
