Summary
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision metal parts in accordance with customer specifications and industry standards. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or routers) to perform precision machining operations
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
Select appropriate tooling, materials, and speeds/feeds based on job specifications
Monitor machine operations to ensure part accuracy and make adjustments as needed
Inspect finished parts using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues
Document production output, inspection results, and any deviations from specifications
Adhere to safety protocols and company quality standards
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or metals service center environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Familiarity with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques
Strong mechanical and technical skills
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, machine interface systems)
Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs (with assistance if needed)
Preferred:
Experience with CNC programming (e.g., G-code, Fanuc controls)
Knowledge of metals (aluminum, titanium, etc.) used in aerospace or industrial sectors
Forklift and crane operation experience
