Construction Accountant

Construction Staff Accountant - Temp-to-Hire - Novato - $40-$58/hour

Highly regarded Bay Area green builder, developer, and investor with a positive and supportive company culture in need of an experienced construction accounting professional to join their team.

Reporting to the Controller, you will manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable, financial reporting, maintain project ledgers, process pay requests, and coordinate with Project Managers to ensure timely payments and project budgets are adhered to.

• Start: ASAP

• Duration: Temp to start with goal of temp-to-hire

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, normal business hours with some flexibility.

• Location: 100% Onsite in Novato.

Construction Staff Accountant responsibilities include:

• Manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable

• Maintain bank/cash ledger for all projects; log-in all disbursements to subcontractors, vendors

• Assist Project Coordinators: posting subcontracts, change orders

• Process subcontractors' pay requests; Prepare and update check lists for each subcontractor

• Maintain files for all cleared checks and bank statements for audit purposes.

• Assist with external auditor's annual audits

• Maintain master file of compliant insurance certificates, subcontractor's licenses & W-9

• Process 1099 IRS Reporting

• Perform other duties and responsibilities whenever necessary and upon request by Controller

Construction Staff Accountant requirements:

• 3+ years prior accounting experience

• Prior construction industry experience is highly preferred

• Ability to work independently, and within a team

• Strong communication skills: concise, direct, clear

• Meticulous attention to detail; unwavering commitment to accuracy

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or construction related field is highly preferred
