Fabulous opportunity to join small but robust development department of highly regarded SF educational institution.

 

Mentoring a team of two while working closely with the Head of School and Board of Trustees, you will provide leadership for the Development program as it builds a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the school and community at large.

Experienced guiding large capital campaigns, managing a multitude of events, and cultivating high net-worth donor relations,  you bring the strategic mindset necessary to create a vision for the department and the roll up your sleeves mentality to implement it.

 

With an eye for continuous improvement, you enjoy digging into each area of your department, evaluating what is working, what can be built on, and what can be changed to become more effective.

 

You excel at the written word, enjoying crafting emails to families, letters to donors, and a host of fundraising communications.  Warm and welcoming, you thrive on interfacing with a wide array of individuals, creating a supportive, collaborative, and positive environment.

 

You know your way around fundraising and data management software and ideally offer extensive experience with Razor’s Edge.

 

You will:

  • Establish and execute forward-thinking development/ advancement and strategic programs that optimally grow the annual, major, and capital campaigns, legacy gifts, and planned giving.

  • Oversee all aspects of the development program, including fundraising, leading the annual giving program, guiding the capital campaign, soliciting corporate and foundation proposals, creating a strong alumni association, and managing special development events.

  • Identify, research, and spearhead the implementation of a diverse and multifaceted fundraising program to support the School’s strategic vision, cultivating a culture of giving and gratitude across all constituencies and socio-economic strata.

  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management on PR initiatives and the marketing and communications office to create/produce fund raising-related communication materials to expand and enhance the School’s visibility and reputation.

  • Identify corporate and foundation funding opportunities and help draft grant applications.

  • Strengthen relationships with the School’s alumni and further develop alumni programming.

  • Develop a major donor solicitation plan and personally solicit major donors.

  • Manage the development budget. Supervise, nurture, and develop the development team.

  • Coordinate the School’s volunteerism efforts and acts as a Parent Association liaison.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree a plus

  • 5+ years of experience in development, fundraising or related nonprofit professional experience.

  • Higher or independent education experience a plus.

  • Proven success in directly soliciting and closing charitable gifts.


  • Strategic thinker with a “can-do” style.

  • Outstanding knowledge of fundraising data software and database management software.

  • Experience working with and motivating volunteers and staff members.
