We are hiring for a sales assistant for our client who is an international supplier of waterworks, plumbing and fire protection systems with offices in the Bay Area, Portland, Saudi Arabia, and Guam. They develop and manage international distribution of some of the USA’s biggest and most respected manufacturers of plumbing, water, sewer, and industrial piping products.

 

LOCATION: Portland, OR (parking offered)

SALARY: $55k

SCHEDULE: Direct Hire/ Full time: Monday – Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm

THE ROLE
The sales assistant will have the responsibility of providing administrative support to the sales team. This will involve tasks such as order entry, purchasing, organizing, and managing a substantial volume of documents, emails, and notes, as well as overseeing procedures, expense reports, and travel arrangements. Additionally, the role will entail acquiring knowledge about the product and pricing, understanding shipping fundamentals, and eventually handling quoting duties.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become an expert in order entry and purchasing in our company system (Netsuite)

  • Support sales team with data entry into our Excel quote form

  • Organize and manage a high volume of documents, emails and notes

  • Manage project equipment start-up communications (procedures, expenses, travel

arrangements, billing, etc.), between our salespeople, factories and customers

  • Learn our products and pricing, shipping basics and eventually issue simple quotations

 

 

SKILLS AND MUST-HAVES

  • 1 – 2 years of administrative experience.

  • 1-2 years of buy/sell product sales environment experience

  • Enjoy interacting and cultivating relationships with colleagues and vendors

  • Communicate effectively. Writing skills are very important

  • Comfortable with large amounts of paperwork and can manage a detailed filing and organizational system

  • Manage the workload independently

  • Have excellent time management, strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently and communicate with the team when conflicts arise

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Outlook

  • Have a natural curiosity and interested in researching questions/products
