Position Title: Career Center Coordinator
Wage: $19.50/hr
Shift: 1st shift
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm
New opening for a 4-12 week temporary position for a Career Center Coordinator in Freeport, IL. The Career Center Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for customers. In this role, you will create a welcoming environment, engage with customers to assess their employment and training needs, and connect them to resources and services that meet their goals. Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement

Serve as the first point of contact, delivering a welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable experience for all visitors to the Career Center.

Answer calls, respond to emails, order supplies, and oversee all career center operations, including opening and closing procedures.

Maintain confidentiality and safeguard personal identifying information (PII) in accordance with legal requirements.

Conduct assessments and provide initial services, such as job search assistance, career counseling, and referrals to appropriate services.
Workforce Services & Community Support

Rapidly assess visitor needs and connect them to relevant services, ensuring the most effective use of resources.

Stay informed about local, state, and federal policies affecting workforce services and training programs.

Foster relationships with community partners and employers to ensure continued access to vital resources and employment opportunities.

Provide information on local training programs and refer customers to community social services when needed.

Collaborate with Business Services and employers to coordinate hiring events, workshops, and job leads.
Team Collaboration & Communication

Supervise and train volunteer or student assistants.

Work closely with Career Center Lead and team members to ensure proper staffing and support for customers.

Facilitate communication between the Career Center staff, customers, and external partners.

Assist customers in the computer lab with tasks such as resume creation, job applications, and job search strategies.
Administrative & Operational Duties

Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, report generation, and case note documentation.

Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and track service outcomes.

Ensure the Career Center is clean, organized, and safe for staff and visitors.

Manage multiple calendars for scheduling testing, workshops, and events.

Support the development of program services and other operational tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
-
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; College degree preferred.

Experience: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations, especially individuals facing barriers to employment.
Skills:
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Ability to provide exceptional customer service and support.
-
Bilingual (Spanish) is highly desirable.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based at the Workforce Connection Career Center, with occasional travel to other community locations. Hours are typically daytime but may include evenings and weekends as needed.
