We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with a strong background in aerospace manufacturing to join our precision machining team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming multi-axis CNC machines to produce high-tolerance aerospace components using advanced CAM software. This role requires a deep understanding of aerospace standards, tooling, materials, and machining strategies to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Program and simulate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling and turning centers using [Mastercam / NX / CATIA / Fusion 360 / other software].
-
Read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
-
Develop and optimize toolpaths for tight-tolerance components, with attention to surface finish, geometry, and material-specific machining strategies (e.g., titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys).
-
Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality inspectors to ensure programs are accurate and executable on the shop floor.
-
Ensure all programs comply with aerospace standards such as AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
-
Maintain documentation including setup sheets, tooling lists, and revision control.
-
Conduct dry runs, first-article inspections, and continuous improvement of machining processes.
-
Support tooling selection, fixturing design, and problem-solving of production issues.
-
Stay current with advancements in CAM software, cutting tools, and aerospace machining techniques.
Requirements:
-
5+ years of CNC programming experience, preferably in an aerospace or defense environment.
-
Proficient in at least one major CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX, CATIA, Fusion 360).
-
Strong knowledge of G-code, and multi-axis machine control.
-
Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and machining specifications (e.g., GD&T, ASME Y14.5).
-
Experience machining difficult materials such as titanium, Inconel, and hardened steels.
-
Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and 3D models.
-
Strong problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail and process efficiency.
-
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
-
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate’s degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience with CNC Machines
-
Understanding of SPC, CMM inspection, and statistical process control.
-
Prior experience supporting flight-critical or mission-critical parts.
-
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma background is a plus.
