Responsible for safe and efficient plant operation utilizing the DCS Control System, PLC, and Field Operators. The DCS Operator is a member of a multi-disciplined team responsible for the operation and production of Sodium Hypochlorite, including plant process equipment. As the Operator you are expected to solely and independently monitor, control and manipulate the DCS for safe performance of the plant inclduing:

Communicate plant activities both written and verbal

Follow written and oral operating instructions.

Start up and shut down, and monitoring the continuous process

Maintain control of total plant operations utilizing the distributive control system (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and effective communications with the filed operators
-
Adjust process variables to achieve a safe and efficient operation
-
Provide input to maintenance and management on production problems
-
Assist other disciplines in the plant as required, Ability to monitor and prioritize responses to issues in multiple places
-
Assist in providing skill training to field operators
-
Willing to work overtime and adapt to the flexible work schedule (shift work)

Knowledge of chemical plant process control, control systems, pumps, and motors

Good trouble shooting skills for chemicals plant processes and equipment. Trouble shoots processing problems and takes corrective action when possible, seeks assistance when necessary.

Basic understanding of lab analytical techniques to understand required adjustments to the process parameters.

Team oriented, flexible, and able to work without supervision.

Know and understand the electrolyzer, rectifier, and transformer interlock logic

Know and understand P&ID’s
Education and /or Experience
-
High School diploma or equivalent
-
Three years chemical plant operating experience required. Chlor-alkali operating experience a plus.
Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up and including 50 pounds
-
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Must be able to climb stairs, up to 25 steps, multiple and numerous times per shift
-
Must be able to climb a ladder up to 25’ if needed.
-
Must be able to turn valves, pushing and pulling them into the open and closed position multiple and numerous times per shift.
-
Must be able to work in conditions exceeding the ambient air temperature by approximately 30 degrees Fahrenheit
-
Must be able to work in an environment with an electromagnetic field.
$22/hr.
