Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking for a CNC Operator for a machine shop client located in Clackamas, Oregon who specializes in custom manufacturing.

 

DETAILS

  • 4/10's shift

  • Monday - Thursday

  • Fridays are optional overtime

  • 6:00am - 4:30pm

  • $22 - $28 depending on skill set.

 

Position Summary:

Produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Maintain quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions (Level I/Level II):

  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of services, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.

  • Proven ability to set up mills, lathes, and other manufacturing equipment, with assistance and oversight; by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers, indicating vices and tramming heads.

  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.

  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part and sample work pieces, adhering to international standards.

  • Maintain specification by observing drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

 

Essential Functions (Level II):

  • Proven ability to set up mills, lathes, and other manufacturing equipment; independently, by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers, indicating vices and tramming heads.

  • Perform basic CNC programming duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities (Level I/Level II):

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.

  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.

  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.

  • Demonstrate continuous improvement of process (scrap reduction, productivity improvements, etc.).

  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Requirements (Level I/Level II):

To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to.

  • Working knowledge of raw materials.

  • Thorough knowledge of the machines used including basic programming, types of tools used, loading tools, loading material and operations.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/specs, follow routers, use math and basic hand-held measuring tools.

  • Meet physical demands including, lifting, bending, standing for long periods, sitting, reaching and mobility around shop.

  • Understanding of quality systems and standards.

  • Quantity – meets productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner.

  • Quality Control – demonstrate a high level of accuracy and thoroughness, monitor own work to ensure quality and apply feedback.

  • Safety and Security – observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly.

  • Attention to detail, applying thoroughness and thoughtfulness to all work.

  • Knowledge of company’s policies and procedures.

  • Ethics – work with integrity and confidentiality, uphold organizational values, and follow through on commitments.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
