Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Lead Conveyor Vulcanizer Belt Technician to join our client’s team in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will be responsible for the joining and repairing of conveyor belts in an industrial setting. This role requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. We will relocate the right individual!

 

Conveyor Vulcanizer Shift: Monday – Friday Day Shift with Overtime

Conveyor Vulcanizer Pay: $28-35/hr DOE

 

Lead Conveyor Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform belt splicing operations to join, repair, or replace conveyor belts according to established procedures and safety guidelines.

  • Inspect conveyor belts for damage, wear, or misalignment, and determine the appropriate course of action for repair or replacement.

  • Align and prepare belt ends for splicing, ensuring proper tension and tracking.

  • Use a variety of tools, equipment, and materials such as vulcanizing presses, mechanical fasteners, adhesives, and solvents to complete belt splicing tasks.

  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently during the splicing process.

  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and prioritize belt splicing tasks based on production requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of belt splicing activities, including repair work, materials used, and any maintenance recommendations.

  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to conveyor belt performance, such as slippage, tracking problems, or excessive wear.

 

Lead Conveyor Technician Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years’ experience with vulcanizing; lap, finger and steel cable splices.

  • 2+ years’ experience with cold bond; cold splicing and pulley lagging.

  • 2+ years’ experience with belt installation and string on belting.

  • Working knowledge of conveyor belt systems, splicing techniques, and repair methods.

  • Proficient in using tools and equipment associated with belt splicing, such as vulcanizing presses, mechanical fasteners, and hand tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces if required.

  • Willingness to adhere to flexible work schedules and be available for on-call duties as needed.
