Mailing company in Niles, IL, looking for a maintenance mechanic 1st shift.
Key Responsibilities
Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and fixing problems with printing presses, binders, folders, cutters, and auxiliary equipment.
Preventive Maintenance (PM): Following schedules for cleaning, lubricating (greasing), replacing parts (belts, rollers), and checking systems.
Electrical/Mechanical Skills: Working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems, reading diagrams (electrical/mechanical), and potentially PLC troubleshooting.
Production Support: Performing emergency repairs, installing equipment, and making adjustments to keep machines running.
Monday-Friday
6:00 am-2:30 pm, occasionally on Saturdays
Essential Skills & Tools
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on skills with tools like calipers, micrometers, welders, hoists, and lifts.
Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify root causes of jams or malfunctions (worn rollers, bad sensors).
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of industrial controls, electrical/mechanical systems, and printing processes.
Soft Skills: Working under pressure, teamwork, and sometimes client interaction.
Work Environment
Shifts: Often requires 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, including 12-hour shifts in a high-pressure, fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Physical Demands: Involves physical tasks like bending, lifting, and continuous standing.
