JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: CNC Milling Machine Operator 

DEPARTMENT: Metal Fabrications 

REPORTS TO: Metal Fabrications Supervisor 

Shift: 1st shift 5:00-1:30

PAY RATE: $20-$24

Job Purpose

A CNC Milling Machine Operator will apply knowledge of machining to set-up and operate the Prototrak 

CNC Vertical Milling Machine, supporting both production and miscellaneous millwork assignments.

What Will You Do?

• Set–up and run Prototrak CNC Vertical Milling Machine production jobs on Track 4

• Create, open and save programs on the Prototrak CNC Vertical Milling Machine

• Assist in designing milling and tooling fixtures

• Assist in improving efficiency with appropriate spindle speeds and feeds

• Adhere to the approved preventative maintenance program

• Troubleshoot to determine and correct problems/issues

• Run tooling, inspection gauges and special projects, as assigned on the milling machine

• Keep tooling cabinet organized and current

• Train others in the department (on all shifts) to run the Milling machine

• Within a mill cell operate secondary operations while the mill is running

• Recommend items related to evaluation, continuous improvement and departmental 

improvements for work flow, procedures, etc.

• Work on other Track 4 equipment, forklift, as needed

• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• 1-2+ years work and/or current educational experience on manual or CNC milling machine

• Basic knowledge of machining (including set-up)

• Blue print reading skills

• Experience with and ability to read precision instruments

• High caliber of quality control; strong observation and quality inspection skills

• Entry-level computer skills

• Excellent communication skills; strong grammatical use of the English language

• High level of self-initiative and dependability

• Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required

• Must be flexible and willing to pitch in as needed

• Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks

• Ability to work within a team environment

• Must possess positive, "can do" attitude.

• Prototrak CNC Vertical Milling Machine

• Precision instruments (calipers, chamfer gauge, inspection gauges)

• Blueprints

• Computer terminal

• Cross-trained on all Track 4 equipment, forklift, etc.

• 10 hour shift

• 8 hour shift
