JOB TITLE: Press Brake Set -up Operator
DEPARTMENT: Metal Fabrication
REPORTS TO: Track Leader
Shift: 2nd shift 3:30-12:00
JOB PURPOSE:
The set-up and operation of assigned fabrication machine to form parts from cold rolled, stainless steel and aluminum, according to manufacturing procedures and scheduling requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Set-up and operation of Amada Press Brakes (RG, HFB, HDS and FBD) and Safan
· Select, load and install correct tooling; maintain tool inventory: keep tools clean and orderly
· Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces
· Stage completed product on skids
· Work from live schedule, verbal and written instruction, bills of material, routing, samples, blue prints and control plans
· Perform quality inspections of parts to produce products that exceed customer’s expectations
· Assist in efficient flow of raw materials routed to the Track as well as the flow of materials in down-stream processes of parts; Utilize space in an efficient manner
· Assist in down-stream operations as needed, depending on flow and workload
· Perform other duties as assigned
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Follow safety rules, safe operating procedures and practices; help ensure all employees follow safety rules, procedures and practices
· Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work areas
· Active participation in ongoing individual training /development program(s)
· Set goals and objectives with Supervisor; look for ways to improve quality, productivity and flow of process
· Report abnormalities in machines, programs, materials, processes, etc.
· Perform other related duties in down-stream processes as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
· 2+ years Press Brake Set-up and operating experience, preferably with Amada HFB-FBD equipment or Safan
· Previous metal fabrication background
· Dimensional measuring and shop math competence
· Ability to read and understand blue prints
· Possess high caliber of quality control; strong skills in observing/ inspecting own work
· Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
· Effective communication skills to discuss and understand work procedures, training, general direction and other issues with co-workers and supervisor
· Ability to work within a team environment
· Must be able to work overtime, as required
· Must possess a positive, "can do" attitude
· Ability to work in other areas in FAB as work load is needed
EQUIPMENT USED:
· Metal fabrication machines in assigned area (down-acting and up-acting Press) and other tracks
· Measurement tools including calipers, measuring tape, protractor and square
