Tool & Die Maker - Journeyman

As the Tool & Die Maker, you will be responsible for making, repairing, or modifying custom-made products, prototypes, or special tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very specific dimensions.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, or dial indicators
  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders (Blanchard – Surface)
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools
  • Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products

Qualifications:

  • Seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years previous experience as a Tool & Die Maker, Toolroom attendant
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • The position requires excellent math skills and the ability to read, interpret, and follow a variety of blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
  • Ability to work 10 hours in a physically active and challenging environment that includes but is not limited to; walking, standing, lifting, twisting, turning, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required and Tool & Die Maker schooling Die Building/Maintenance, Tool & Die Maker/machinist and/or state indentured journeyman’s card

Key Information:

  • Base pay will vary based on experience and range between $24- $35/hr. 
  • Working 45- 55-hour work weeks (41-48 hours earns time and a half, 49+ double time)
  • All candidates will train on our 1st shift for approximately 90 days and may transfer to the 2nd -shift upon completion of training period.
