Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Sewer to join our team. As an Industrial Sewer specializing in shade and drape fabrication, you will play a vital role in creating high-quality window coverings. Your expertise in sewing and fabric manipulation will contribute to producing beautiful and functional shades and drapes for our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fabricate shades and drapes according to specifications and design requirements
- Operate industrial sewing machines and other relevant equipment to sew and assemble fabrics
- Cut and measure fabric accurately, ensuring precision and adherence to product specifications.
- Sew fabric pieces together using various sewing techniques, such as straight stitching, hemming, and pleating. When necessary, pattern matching to ensure a quality product
- Install necessary hardware components, such as grommets, zippers, hooks, or rods, to complete the final product
- Ensure that all finished shades and drapes meet quality standards by inspecting them for flaws or defects and continuity.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of fabrics, tools, and equipment.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a secure and hazard-free work environment
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven experience as an industrial sewer, preferably with expertise in shade and drape fabrication.
- Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and other related equipment.
- Strong sewing skills and knowledge of various sewing techniques, including hemming, pleating, and stitching. Familiarity with different types of fabrics and their properties.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise work.
- Ability to read and interpret design specifications and measurements on work tickets.
- The capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to move to various workstations depending on business needs.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle long hours of sewing and repetitive tasks. Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to maintain a safe working environment.
This position will be located here in Waukegan and will be for both 1st and 2nd shift. Resume, drug test, measurement test, background and interview required.
