Job Summary

We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate various types of heavy machinery such as skid steers, front-end loaders, backhoes, and excavators to support construction, site development / clean up, material handling, or other industrial operations. The operator will be responsible for performing duties efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all company and regulatory standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment including skid steers, front-end loaders, backhoes, and excavators to move materials, dig trenches, load trucks, and perform site grading or excavation.

- Inspect equipment daily before and after use to ensure safe, efficient operation.

- Perform basic maintenance such as checking fluids, greasing fittings, and reporting mechanical issues.

- Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors.

- Load and unload materials while maintaining proper weight distribution and balance.

- Adhere to all client and company safety regulations.

- Communicate effectively with ground crew and supervisors to coordinate workflow.

- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment used.

 - Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment (skid steer, loader, backhoe, excavator).
  • Proven ability to perform grading, trenching, loading, and excavation tasks accurately and safely.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience working in construction, roadwork, utilities, or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with GPS or laser-guided equipment systems.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Work Environment

  • Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
  • Exposure to loud noise, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
  • Work may involve uneven terrain, trenches, and confined spaces.
  • May require overtime, weekends, or variable shifts depending on project needs.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required at all times.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, or walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and depth perception.
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive to surroundings at all times.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety.
