The Production Worker is responsible for understanding and following all assigned tasks and abiding by all safety requirements. They will assist the designated machine operator or production team in a variety of functions and other tasks assigned for either food production or manufacturing.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform the responsibilities and tasks assigned with the general guidance of the Line Leader.
  • Ability to work within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
  • During downtime, maintain the surrounding area by cleaning the floors and disposing of waste in appropriate receptacles.
  • Assist the lead operator in preparing for shift production.
  • May be required to work with conveyors, etc., as assigned.
  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Follow all food or manufacturing safety programs.
  • Follow all safety programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or Food Production experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must have great attention to detail to be able to detect the presence of product or production issues.
  • Ability to visually inspect products and materials.
  • An understanding or willingness to learn food manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is mandatory.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal or written communications.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills 

  • Ability to communicate problems or issues that are occurring on the production floor to the production management team.
  • Ability to work and communicate with other departments on production issues or concerns.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and consistently demonstrate problem-solving skills to move up within the company.
  • Follows the attendance policy. Observes department call-in procedures. Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits, including meal and other breaks.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers.
  • Exhibits teamwork and willingness to help others.
  • Follows dress code and maintains a professional appearance.
  • Can be relied upon to complete assigned tasks and move lines.
  • Complies with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
  • Works within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.

Working Environment

  • Production workers primarily work in industrial settings. 
  • The work environment can be loud due to machinery and other activities. 
  • Depending on the industry, workers might need to wear safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, or other protective clothing. 
  • Production environments can involve exposure to machinery, chemicals, food allergens, and other potential hazards.
  • Production facilities may operate around the clock, requiring workers to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.  

Physical and Mental Requirements 

  • Production workers often spend much of their shift on their feet, performing repetitive tasks. 
  • They may need to lift heavy materials, equipment, or finished products. 
  • Many production jobs involve performing the same actions repeatedly, which can lead to fatigue.
