The Carpenter Helper is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the carpenters including but not limited to assisting with maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Cleaning and preparing construction sites. 
  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment. 
  • Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures. 
  • Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes. 
  • Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment. 
  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans. 
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisor
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have Valid Driver’s License and Valid Insurance
  • Must NOT have active warrants
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening
  • Basic math skills
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.
  • Must have an outgoing and positive attitude, willingness to learn new skills
  • Reliable and Punctual

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prefer 3 months of carpentry / general labor experience (not required)

Working Environment

Must be able to work in any weather condition, inside and out, must be comfortable working in both environments.   Are often exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Are sometimes exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures when working outdoors. Must be able to lift up to 70lbs.  

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, handling, reach outward, reach above shoulder, crawl, squat/Kneel, bend, push and pull frequently. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on work surface.
  • Ability to use upper and lower extremities to move or transport 50 to 70 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward or outward position or drag, haul 50 to 70 pounds
  • Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending spine at waist, and bending legs at knees and moving extremities in any direction
  • Ability to withstand physical demands on the body, including being in a stationary and/or standing position most of the day
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, including where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly
  • Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
