The Production Worker is responsible for understanding and following all assigned tasks and abiding by all safety requirements. They will assist the designated machine operator or production team in a variety of functions
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform the responsibilities and tasks assigned with the general guidance of the Line Leader
Monitor product output to ensure end result is within product specifications.
Prepare the working area at the start and end of each shift (12 hour shifts)
Clean up responsibilities:
During downtimes maintain the surrounding area by cleaning the floors and disposing of waste in appropriate receptacles.
Clean the machines and conveyors at the end of the shift.
Assists lead operator in preparing for shift production.
May be required to work with conveyors, etc. as assigned.
Comply with the following programs within the production area: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), any and food and safety programs.
Utilizes understanding of the production line to troubleshoot process/packaging problems.
Ability to communicate problems or issues that are occurring on the production floor to the production management team.
Ability to work and communicate with other departments on production issues or concerns.
Advise the Team Leader/Line Leader when opportunities exist to improve the production line.
Minimum Qualifications:
Manufacturing experience preferred.
Must have a great attention to detail to be able to detect the presence of product or production issues.
Ability to visually inspect product and materials.
An understanding or willingness to learn food manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Working Conditions
Primarily set in a warehouse where temperatures vary depending on location
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and sharp objects.
Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in all environments, as well as items related to GMP, including hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), safety shoes and clean room coats.
Primarily standing work on a concrete surface.
Frequently handling, reaching, using fine manipulation to grasp or hold objects.
Working Environment
Often work indoors. Are often exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Are exposed very cold or warm temperatures when working indoors. Are sometimes exposed to contaminants, such as fumes and or seasoning product. Operating hand tools, machinery, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, handling, reach outward, reach above shoulder, crawl, squat/Kneel, bend, push and pull frequently. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on work surface.
Ability to use upper and lower extremities to move or transport 25 to 50 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward or outward position or drag, haul 25 to 50 pounds
Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending spine at waist, and bending legs at knees and moving extremities in any direction
Ability to withstand physical demands on the body, including being in a stationary and/or standing position most of the day
Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, including where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly
Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
