Position: Accounting Clerk
Pay Rate: $25.00 /hourly
Location: Stockton, CA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday; must be available for overtime, nights, and weekends as needed
Job Description:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and clerical tasks to support accounts payable, payroll processing, and other accounting functions. This role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to company accounting practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and enter invoices, expense reports, and credit card logs for accuracy and correct account coding
Sort, file, batch, and process invoices for payment in accordance with payment terms
Reconcile credit card statements and expense reports
Assist with reconciling accounts payable accounts
Accrue and process sales tax for out-of-state vendors
Track and process inventory items
Support month-end close activities
Manage weekly check runs, match checks to invoices, and ensure proper signatures
Maintain and process 1099 reports
Respond to vendor inquiries
Generate intermittent reports (DMV, MCP, CHP BIT, etc.)
Onboard new hires and rehires, maintain e-Verify and submit new hire reporting to EDD
Process employment verifications and maintain personnel files and I-9s
Handle garnishments and certified payroll reporting
Accurately process timecards and maintain payroll records in JD Edwards
Provide accounting support to company personnel as needed
Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Regular attendance and safe work practices required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
7 years of relevant accounting experience
Experience with JD Edwards software preferred
Proficiency in job cost accounting, especially in the construction industry
High accuracy in financial data entry and processing
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking skills
Must be able to operate 10-key by touch
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform basic physical tasks (e.g., walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders)
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
