Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour DOE
Qualifications:
This position performs preventative/corrective maintenance on vital drinking water & wastewater equipment with an emphasis on mechanical duties. This is a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year operation and personnel will be subject to working overtime and on call including nights, holidays, and weekends.
Prior experience is preferred but not required – we're seeking motivated individuals eager to learn and contribute to our team.

Responsibilities:
As an Entry-Level Water Utility Worker, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable delivery of clean and safe drinking water to our community. You'll work alongside experienced professionals to perform a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection system.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Performing activities related to water and wastewater system maintenance, including water quality and water supply.
- Inspects, installs, repairs, replaces, and tests water mains, water services, water meters, fire hydrants, backflow protection devices and other related water system assets.
- Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces sewer lines, lateral cleanouts, manholes, collection mains, operates cleaning and video equipment on sewer lines to determine system deficiencies and other related wastewater system assets.
- Reading water meters manually.
- Setting up work zones and assist in managing work zone safely.
- Inspects sewer lift stations; ensures SCADA alarms are communicating; conducts visual inspections of wet wells and pump cycling and float conditions.
- Responds to Service Orders related to line locations. Marks water and wastewater infrastructures.
- Performs customer service work orders related to water/wastewater infrastructure. Interacts with the public in a professional manner.
- Provides courteous customer service; responds to questions and inquiries from general public.
- Timely completes work orders, forms, records and other associated paperwork both manually and digitally.
- Operates heavy machinery, including dump truck, Vactor truck, and backhoe, as well as other related equipment, in performing skilled and semiskilled duties for water and system wastewater maintenance.
- Performs basic preventative maintenance of heavy machinery; greasing, fluid level checks, pre-trip inspections, etc.
- Performs work in confined spaces; takes appropriate precautions prior to entering confined spaces with use of air quality monitors and ventilators.
- Logs and/ or interprets meter and gauge readings to determine pump performance and condition.
- Maintains accurate logs of repairs/ maintenance done.
- Clean and maintain equipment in the wastewater pumping system.
- Serves in emergency standby capacity and/ or On Call; available for on call after hours including holidays and weekends.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, working in confined spaces and wearing an appropriate respiratory protection device as necessary. The worker may be exposed to blood borne and/or waterborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
