DAY-TO-DAY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION. 


The responsibilities associated with the role of a Logistics Structure and Material Flow Planning Specialist I are: 

  1. Performs lineside planning and material flow planning to integrate new product content in support of the company targets.
  2. Plans and implementation of new supermarkets and commissioning processes.
  3. Performs time analysis using client’s SD and LPP tool to determine headcount and equipment for new/changed processes.
  4. Investigates, improves, and stabilizes overall material flow processes in support of company targets.
  5. Performs quantitative and qualitative evaluations, considering impact to logistics costs and structure.
  6. Leads cross-functional project teams and other special tasks associated with projects.
  7. Coordinates all required activities regarding parts provision and supermarkets.
  8. Develops regular status reports and indicators to measure assigned work activity.
  9. Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  10. Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.

Must have requirement: Material flow or Line side Planning experience, Analytical, Proficient in MS Excel tool, Cross functional work experience and is a quick learner.


Nice to Have:

Ability to understand and communicate in German. Not mandatory.


Travel: 

Travel to Supplier location is needed at times, not very often.


Scope:

Performs planning of logistics structures in the plant and the warehouses.


Responsibilities

Manage strategic planning and reporting.

Performs layout planning for the warehouse, connected logistics elements and future plant expansion.

Performs Logistics Process Planning, Long Term Investment Planning (LIP) and analysis on space requirements for LUP (Long Term Enterprise Planning).

Works independently in leading logistics projects.

Investigates, improves, and stabilizes overall logistics processes in support of company targets.

Calculates Days of Supply simulations for Logistics Structure Requirements and recommends changes based upon supplier locations. Verifies and analyzes structural data including movement of trailers and product.

Analyzes the cost of storing inventory.

Drives process improvements for optimized warehouse strategy. 

Develop methods/methodologies to support the planning process. 

Writes decision papers to support the process of structural investment in logistics.

Works with Facilities & Energy for designing layout (2D) and structure (3D) of logistics areas.

Performs financial analysis of contracts with logistics services vendor and interacts with them on structure and layout issues.

Supports and update logistics planning tool LPP doing time analyses using MTM or time study data.

Performs other duties as assigned by the operations supervisor.


Qualifications

Experience: 

1+ years of related experience to include 2 of the following areas:  material control, warehouse/plant operations, or warehouse/plant layout. Experience must include 1 year of supervisory/project leadership.

Intermediate = Ability to work effectively in teams

Intermediate = MS office application skills, (VISO preferred)

Intermediate = presentational skills.

Intermediate = communication and interpersonal skills, ability to foster networks and partnerships, and good working knowledge of information and computer technologies.

Intermediate = analytical skills and judgment.

Intermediate = ability to lead strategic planning, change processes, result-based management, and reporting.

Fluency (written & spoken) in English language skills; German preferred.

Intermediate = ability to lead formulation, oversight of implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects.

Basic = Experience within time study methods such as REFA, MTM or client standard data (preferred).

Work experience within LPP (Logistics planning platform) (preferred).


Education

BA/BS degree, preferably with focus in Logistics or Supply Chain planning or the equivalent of 4 years’ experience in the related area in a manufacturing environment.
