Position Summary

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

The Electrician II position requires hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) to perform a wide variety of complex and specialized electrical repairs and maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  This would include experience working with power up to 600V, the ability to demonstrate an understanding of complex electrical AC/DC theory, be able to follow electrical drawings and schematics, and apply this knowledge in the field to operate, inspect, maintain and repair equipment and systems across the Central Passenger Terminal Complex (CPTC).  The Electrician II responsibilities require applying standard trade practices and procedures consistent with the NEC to ensure quality work commensurate with that of a mid-level electrician skilled in working with electrical equipment and systems in a large industrial, institutional or manufacturing facility.   The Electrician II performs work under the direction of a senior electrician and reports directly to the supervisor.  Work hours may vary at times depending on client need, extreme weather events, special project assignments, etc.  


Essential Job Functions


  1. Performs inspections and can operate and repair specialized electrical equipment and systems under the direction of a senior electrician;
  2. Works proficiently on a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems with limited to no supervision; and
  3. Able to independently conduct troubleshooting and repairs on a wide variety or electrical equipment and systems.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  1. Able to operate standard electrical testing equipment including voltage tester, multi-meter, megger and circuit tracer;
  2. Able to perform electrical maintenance and repair on secondary distribution panels, switchgears, switchboards, emergency generators, standard lighting systems, emergency lighting systems and the installation of electrical conduit;
  3. Able to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical circuits, ground faults, lighting and motor controls;
  4. Able to perform repairs on electrical equipment and systems under the direction of senior electricians or with limited supervision;
  5. Able to demonstrate basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS);
  6. Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills;
  7. Able to follow all AAT Project safety requirements to support Beyond Zero safety goals that promote continuous improvements in safety culture at our project;
    1. Able to use lifts (up to 150 ft) and ladders in the performance of assigned electrical work, which may also be completed in a variety of weather conditions; and
      1. Able to work a compressed or extended schedule, which may apply during extreme weather events or irregular operations.


Education


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.


Experience


  • Three (3) year experience with power up to 600V required with five (5) years preferred.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License with no major infractions.
  • State of Georgia journeyman’s license or equivalent preferred.


Working Conditions

Working conditions in the work area can include indoor environments, as well as outdoor environments, which could cause exposure to changing weather conditions; proper environmental attire will be required.  Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals.  The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.


Physical Requirements

Physical requirements to perform work will include ability to sit, stand, stoop, twist, and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to maintain equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.  In an 8-hour shift, must be able to walk long distances throughout the facility, lift objects up to 40 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; work in prone position under vehicles or equipment; wear and use appropriate safety equipment; work alternate shifts to meet client needs.
