Qualifications:
MECHANIC IN TRAINING - WASTEWATER TREATEMENT FACILITY
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) months of experience in lift station operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must obtain Wastewater Class C Collection Technician Certification within two (2) years of employment and be promoted to full operator level; a one-time extension of six (6) months may be granted based on performance and approval by Management and Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
Performs work in the maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection systems. Operates heavy equipment including a backhoe, front loader, and Vac Con truck in order to perform various maintenance tasks. Checks lift stations and other related equipment. Service Workers complete repairs to wastewater system and reuse distribution system. Performs general maintenance duties & test back flow devices once licensed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position is subject to emergency callouts and must be able to work overtime including nights, weekends, holidays, stand-by as required & during inclement weather events - Hurricanes.
