Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions.)
Must have good math skills with the ability to perform water-related mathematical calculations.
Within one year of employment attain either a FL Class Drinking Water or a Wastewater Class C license. Failure to attain such a license may result in termination of employment. Initial study material and one-time test fees are paid for by the company.
Florida Class E Driver's license
Desired: Two years in either a plumbing, electrical, or maintenance background.
Preferred: One year in the treatment of Drinking Water or Wastewater.
This is a 24-hour on-call position. Ability to carry and respond to pages as requested by management.
Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Preforms routine serving and corrective maintenance of water and wastewater collection systems.
Cleans vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationary and portable equipment
Preforms routine inspections of vehicles and equipment; performs minor maintenance and lubrication of machinery such as changing oil and greasing equipment.
Operates and maintains vehicles, equipment and tools required to load, unload, haul and spread sand, gravel, dirt and / or waste products (sludge, product waste, packaging waste, etc.); digs and refills ditched and trenches.
Carries or holds materials, supplies and tools to assist operations and maintenance personnel
Maintains grounds and buildings; cuts grass, weeds and brushes; trims trees and bushes; rakes grass, leaves and trash, seeds and cares for lawns and ornamental plantings.
Understand and carries out oral and written directions
Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during work
Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators, by-pass pumps to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
Collects process samples as assigned; enter information into chain of custody and utilizes sample tracking tool for all samples collected
Performs process control sampling and analyses
Maintains records for daily operations of facilities in daily log and on daily plant check sheets
Completes tasks detailed on daily check sheets.
Observes general operating conditions, and reports issues immediately to supervisor
Performs other duties as required
Performs routine inspection of vehicles and equipment; preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as assigned and assist maintenance staff with larger corrective maintenance tasks as assigned
Fluent with writing work orders, entering work order data, and completing work orders in the maintenance management system. Uses Maintenance Management system to accurately reflect/record daily maintenance activities
Maintain good housekeeping on plant grounds and inside buildings
