GLISS Staffing is hiring a Skilled Mason  for a modular building company in Aumsville. This position is responsible for constructing concrete frames and smoothing and finishing the surfaces of poured concrete floors using a variety of hand and power tools.


Pay: $25+/DOE



Job Description

  • Constructs forms and bracings according to elevation points and design configuration.
  • Install steel and/or wire reinforcing and expansion joints.
  • Weld steel floor frames, cap beams, etc.
  • Supervise concrete placement and pouring.
  • Level concrete to specified depth and consistency using hand tools.
  • Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors to specified textures and finishes using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds.
  • May mix cement using a hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
  • May break up and repair old concrete surfaces, using pneumatic tools.
  • Drill holes in masonry slabs or walls.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work site.
  • Frequently lift, move, and carry materials weighing 50 - 100 lbs.
  • Subjected to irritation of eyes, skin, and respiratory tract from sawdust, dust, and fumes.
  • Stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally confined workspaces (small areas or shared with other trades).
  • Duties are normally accomplished in a climate-controlled area but are occasionally required to work outside in heat or cold.  
  • Subject to cuts, scrapes, splinters, and burns due to the tools and materials used. 
  • Occasionally required to wear protective equipment or clothing that may be heavy or uncomfortable.
  • Frequently exposed to noise.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Substantial knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the cement construction trade.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, sketches, visual instructions, elevations, and field layouts.
