Food Production Materials Preparation Tech

Pay: $17/hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 2:30pm

Location: Salem, OR

 

GLISS is now hiring reliable, hard-working individual to join a fast-paced food production facility in Salem, OR. Willing to train an individual with limited machine operating experience but MUST have food production experience, at least 1 year. Ability to learn quickly and perform more detailed work in a loud and busy environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and controlling raw material processing and preparation.

  • Monitoring automated and manual processing machinery.

  • Preparing raw materials in intermediate products according to technician’s instructions.

  • Technical personnel in sample collection for quality control processes, for processing and preparing food products and intermediate products.

  • Technical and processing personnel in daily product safety and equipment sanitation.

  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date raw material use and quality tracking records.

  • Troubleshooting and adjusting machinery in work area for maximum safety and efficiency.

  • Report needed repairs or problems to supervisor.

  • Holds all corporate proprietary matters in utmost confidence.

  • Performs duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Able to read and comprehend instructions, informational manuals, able to write and verbally communicate process reports to the supervisor and coworkers.

  • Knowledge of sample collection, machinery sanitation and record keeping.

  • Able to freely access all areas of the production facility including work platforms, mezzanines, access panels, and close working quarters.

  • Able to push and pull up to 60 pounds using heavy product handling equipment. Able to life up to 50 pounds

repetitively as a normal function of the job.

  • Able to work in a high noise level environment for up to ten (10) hours per day, while utilizing personal protective ear equipment.

  • Able to see and read meters, switches, charts, and materials in process.

  • Able to work productively and communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment with supervisor and technical staff.

  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical problems and report such problems to supervisor.

  • Able to stand as needed up to 10 hours per day.

  • Willing to utilize personal protective equipment provided for worker safety, including but not limited to hard hat, ear and hearing protection, safety glasses, and rubber gloves.

  • Understand and perform normal food manufacturing sanitation and clean up requirements and duties.

  • Able to work in a food manufacturing sanitary work area without posing a threat to product sanitation and safety.

  • Able to tolerate exposure to cleaning agents commonly used in the food manufacturing process area.

  • Able to tolerate exposure to odors and products without adverse reactions.

  • Demonstrate adequate manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks.

  • Able to work without extensive supervision.

  • Able to move freely as required performing normally assigned duties.

  • Able to perform mathematical calculations for addition, subtraction, multiplication and divide fractions correctly.

  • Able to tolerate exposure to fast paced and repetitive tasks.

  • Able to work flexible scheduling including hours of the day and days of the week.

  • Able to tolerate heat, cold, dust, high humidity, wind, rain snow, ice, or other extreme weather conditions.

 

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Continuing education in Industrial Technology or related field

desired.

At least one year’s experience in an automated food manufacturing setting in a position

involving intermediate food processing and sanitation of equipment is desired
