Interested in a Farm Hand & Animal Care role with a starting pay of $20/hour? GLISS Staffing is hiring for a locally owned Farm, with multiple locations in the Wilsonville area, to help with farm/gardening work. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position that offers excellent benefits once hired permanently.

Job Summary: Farm Hand & Animal Care is under the general direction of the Lead Farmhand (and oversight from the Facilities Manager), this role assists in performing routine farm animal care and grounds maintenance and engages in related problem solving and improvements. The Farmhand works with related operating equipment and systems and performs preventative maintenance duties as required.

Location: Wilsonville

Pay: $20/hour

Schedule: Variable schedule, most likely Monday, Wednesday-Friday ON - Tuesday and Sunday OFF, 7:30am-4pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Farmhand and Animal Care 

• Feed and water animals twice daily 
• Muck horse stalls, runs, arenas and paddocks
• Clean and sanitize dog kennels 
• Maintain and repair fences, paddocks, pastures, and manage manure in all enclosures 
• Assist with repair and maintenance of shelters, barns, and water systems 
• Perform landscaping and pasture management duties, including mowing and weed whacking 
• Operate farm equipment for dragging riding arena and moving animal waste 
• Secure property at end of shift 
• Record inventory of feeds/materials and keep all animal binders up to date General 

Qualification Requirements 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

• Weekend work required, Saturday and/or Sunday 
• Must work well with others and enjoy working with animals
• Ability to successfully pass a background check 
• Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle with adequate level of insurance

Education and/or Experience 

• Minimum of 1 year’s consistent experience with horses and other animals, demonstrating strong knowledge including safety, handling, and proper care 
• Experience working with hand electrical tools preferred 
• Must have experience working in a farm environment

• Requires ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions like heat, cold, and rain 
• Requires fine hand dexterity to perform tasks such as tying ropes, latching and unlatching gates, fastening equipment, handling small tools and components, and other precise hand movements 
• Physical demands include bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, lowering, standing, walking, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, and other repetitive motions 
• Ability to use step stools and climb ladders 
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
