Job Title: First Class Plate Roller / Press Brake Operator
Location: Slaughter, LA

Reports To: Fabrication Supervisor

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled First Class Plate Roller / Press Brake Operator to join our fabrication team. This role is essential in the forming of heavy steel plate components used in the production of grabs, grapples, and clamshell buckets for bulk material handling. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy-duty plate rolls and press brakes with a strong focus on precision, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate plate rolling machines and press brakes to form steel plates according to engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work orders to determine machine setup and forming sequence.

  • Set up machines, adjust roll and brake settings, and select appropriate tooling for each job.

  • Handle and position large steel plates using overhead cranes or material handling equipment.

  • Perform quality checks to verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, squares, etc.).

  • Monitor equipment during operation to ensure consistent quality and address any issues.

  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed.

  • Work closely with welders, fitters, and supervisors to ensure fabrication schedules are met.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a First Class Plate Roller and/or Press Brake Operator in a heavy steel fabrication environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication and engineering drawings.

  • Skilled in forming thick plate (up to [insert thickness range, e.g., 1” or more]) with minimal supervision.

  • Experience working with structural and wear-resistant steel (e.g., Hardox, AR400) is an asset.

  • Familiarity with safe operation of overhead cranes and heavy material handling.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and handle large components safely.

Compensation DOE $25-30
