Production Manager
Job Overview:
This employee will be responsible for the development and ongoing oversight of daily Operations of Production. The Operations Manager will report to the VP Of Operations and will be responsible for the setting of the production schedule, achievement of its goals, and the daily management of its employees. This manager will play a pivotal role in health and safety initiatives, working collaboratively with the inbound and products sales team, as well as eCommerce teams, and to contribute to the overall success of our monthly, quarterly, yearly, and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
Responsible over the following departments:
Sort | Test – Computer | Test – Mobility/HDD | QC/Inventory/Fulfillment/Returns | Refurb | Shipping & Receiving
- Evaluate and engage in Renewed and Refurbished processes, inventories, and drive efficiency and quality.
- Manage and report KPI performance and costs across all departments.
- Establish metrics for each function and manage to target.
- Training.
- Process Development and Oversight.
- Ensure the plant is organized, clean and everything is in its place.
Environmental Health and Safety Training:
- Ensure all scheduled training and training plan is met, and teams are knowledgeable and competent in the company’s process and standards as set out.
- Ensure all scheduled inspections and checks are adhered to, documented, corrective actions fulfilled for safety and systems requirements.
Production scheduling & planning:
- Review pre-processed orders work instructions, customer related requirements and ensure Sort team is clear on expectations and requirements.
- Ensure all orders meet SLA expectations per order and schedule appropriately.
- Look for opportunities in pre-processed orders and schedule priority orders accordingly.
- Manage WIP inventories in all departments and ensure production is running efficiently and following established processes.
- Manage headcount plan to support the growth of the production department.
- Ensure correct staffing in each department and report when changes are needed based on KPI reporting and inventories.
Product Knowledge:
- Evaluate existing product flow, make suggestions, and build business cases for process or system improvements to drive quality and accuracy.
- Facilitate internal training sessions to ensure knowledgeable and informed operations teams.
Performance Analysis and Management:
- Utilize data analytics and develop/manage to KPIs to assess the effectiveness of operations strategies and methodologies.
- Prepare Reporting and Presentations as required.
- Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in all departments.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenues and manage costs across departments.
Quality Management:
- Develop and implement quality processes verifications in each department to address issues and concerns in all departments.
- Identify factors that affect defects and implement processes to improve and manage ongoing continuous improvement strategies and culture.
- Support in the ongoing management of RMA’s back to QC and operations team for processes review and corrective actions to support product sales eCommerce sales teams.
- Ensure effective communication channels in operations and other relevant departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Inbound Sales, Product Sales, Ecommerce, IT, and other relevant departments to
align Operations strategies with overall business objectives.
- Function as a liaison between operations and other internal stakeholders.
- Support in the development and implementation of reports, integrations and systems that will improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve revenue associated with each production department.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as an operations manager or similar role.
- Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management.
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Familiarity with business and financial principles.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Strategic thinking for the company’s big picture goals.
- Detail-oriented.
