The primary responsibility of a CNC Setup Technician is to setup 3 - 5 axis CNC routers and Mills and run production of plastic parts.


2nd Shift



  • Utilize proper safety and machining procedures.

  • Follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Maintain an organized and clean workstation.

  • Responsible for good housekeeping practices.

  • Perform set-ups per set-up sheets/ tool list.

  • Perform set-ups in a timely matter.

  • Enters commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.

  • Save and update program files.

  • Discusses any difficulties mechanically/technically with supervisor or programmer to resolve problems.

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to work weekends.

  • Experience with trimming plastic.

  • CNC specific training and accreditation are a plus.

  • Minimum of 2 years CNC setup and know how to edit a CNC program.

  • Able to operate a CNC machine to perform various machine functions

  • Be able to understand and follow the design intent behind a trim fixture.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches.

  • Ability to use measurement gages.

  • Able to measure parts for conformance to specification and dimensional requirements.

  • Able to set work offsets/ tool offsets.

  • Able to lift 40lbs.

  • Experience with Solidworks for verification of dimensions as needed.

  • Mastercam knowledge a plus.

  • Experience setting up and machining plastic and/or wood a plus.
