Financial Planning Analyst - Pharmaceuticals

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, the successful candidate will be a finance business partner to R&D functional leaders and will provide financial analysis and help drive decisions and resource allocation. The successful candidate will provide support for financial planning (budgeting, reporting, data analysis, requisition process) and will proactively manage risks & opportunities and corrective actions to protect and maximize financial targets.

Senior Manager - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Business Partnering (20%)

    • Engage with Region/Function leadership team and gain business insights

    • Proactively provide timely financial analysis and insights into the business to drive decisions

  • Financial Planning (30%)

    • Coordinate and support Budget and Forecast process for their functions

    • Proactively manage risks & opportunities

    • Ensure proper funding of key priorities

    • Prepare month end accruals

  • Reporting/Analysis (30%)

    • Prepare financial reports and analyses, including budget vs. actual reports and variance explanation

    • Create ad hoc reports as needed

  • Financial Systems Management (10%)

    • Leverage systems capabilities to automate reporting/analysis

  • Compliance and controls (10%)

    • Ensure SOX compliance, and ensure proper tone in organization

    • Simplify policies and procedures where appropriate

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting

  • 3-5 years of work experience with increasing responsibility in a finance related field, preferably at a global pharmaceutical organization within the research & development organization

  • Experience managing budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles

  • Knowledge of financial planning systems

  • Ability to analyze and manage large amounts of data

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities under high pressure situations with tight deadlines

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Customer focus

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to work independently, deal with complexity and ambiguity

  • Highly proficient using Microsoft Office programs such as; Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Experience with ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)

  • Cognos TM1 experience a plus
