Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Our client is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to work with a machining company in the El Cajon area. You will be responsible for the overall support of the facility, assist with implementing best practices for cost reduction, and provide technical support to the staff. If you have 5 plus years of experience working in the manufacturing industry then we are looking for you!

Job Duties

  • Advanced knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, especially CNC milling and turning of Titanium, Stainless Steel, Ncikel Alloy, Aluminum, and Plastics. Other process knowledge including welding, 

  • Performs detailed material, labor, and outside processing cost calculations. Submits cost calculations to management for approval, and articulates the logic and justification for those calculations. 

  • Inputs and configures BOM s, routings, and master data to the ERP system. 

  • Creates Product Drawings, Manufacturing Instructions, and Work Instructions for new products. 

  • Manages the Engineering Change Order process. 

  • As Project Leader; creates plans/schedules/timelines to manage NPI launch and transition to production. 

  • Designs and manages the machining and assembly fixtures/tooling, machines, and automation. 

  • Research and recommend new applications for existing materials, products, and processes to provide revenue growth opportunities.

  • Analyzes factory capacity and capability, recommends equipment purchases, performs financial payback analysis, and submits Capital Expenditure requests to management. 

  • Project manages the specification, vendor selection, buy-off, and qualification of capital equipment 

  • Provides technical support to production staff. 

  • Partners with Supply Chain to identify, analyze, and qualify new suppliers. 

  • Proficient in complex electro-mechanical system design, GD&Ts from concept to detailing

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management. 


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years related experience in the manufacturing industry

  • Experience in precision CNC machining and assembly preferred

  • Must be proficient using Solidworks and 2D/3D CAD tool to generate Layout, assembly models, fixtures, and detailed part drawings from solid models for various fabrication techniques
