Material Handler:  This is a temp-to-hire position located in Walhalla, SC working on B Shift from 4:00PM-2:00AM. Pay Rate is $22.65/hr. Competitive benefits are offered through ETCON Employment Solutions at the time of hire. 


Summary/Purpose:  

 The purpose of this position is to ensure the flow of product from one respective area to another. Support the manufacturing facility by providing efficient and on time delivery to each department's respective internal customers. This position is responsible for the weighing and counting of parts coming from the manufacturing process and the reporting of production into the MRP inventory system. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Operation of powered industrial equipment (forklifts etc.) and other equipment as designated. 
  •  Load / Unload material & product as designated by the process, or leadership. 
  •  Reference respective paperwork to ensure proper allocation of product / material. 
  •  Ensure inventory accuracy by proper use of Material tracking database (Oracle); perform cycle counts if necessary. 
  •  Monitor and ensure material is staged properly and material is delivered to point of use (Push System). 
  •  Perform packing and unpacking of material according to customer requirements if applicable. 
  •  Attention to detail when processing paperwork, making labels, running reports, meeting daily & weekly schedules. 
  •  Will assist in locating finished and overflow product. Follow and maintain FIFO. 
  •  Must meet all requirements to obtain and retain forklift license. 
  • Receive parts coming from production and weigh count using scales and reporting software provided.
  • Record quantity and trace info into database accurately.
  • Move product in and out of crib locations or staging areas.
  • Audit info in database for accuracy, including piece weights, tub counts and inventory balances.
  • Track orders for completion status and close outstanding orders when needed.
  • Assist in maintaining tare weight labeling for tubs and pallet jacks.
  • Manage own project tasks and activities to meet project schedule and budget goals.
  • Maintain dunnage levels for production; coordinate stocking of parts if applicable to your area.
  • Perform and adhere to all required Safety, environmental & 5S duties.
  • Must work overtime as required.
  • This is not all inclusive and can change as business conditions change. 


Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Operation of a forklift, pallet jack and other equipment is required (valid driver's license required, plus training certification).
  • Read and complete respective documentation, operate computer (Microsoft Office Apps) and perform basic math. 
  • Knowledge and experience with scale counting process. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems with inventory inaccuracies through understanding of process flow. 
  • Ability to understand and use material tracking (BMS) software (Oracle).
  • Self-motivated and good communication & Listening skills are a plus. 
  • Ability to work as a team, follow written and oral instruction.
  • Ability to adjust to different working conditions and back up for other jobs as necessary when directed by Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Testing may be necessary to validate skill levels (respective to department).

Education and Experience:  

  • High School Diploma, GED or SC Work Keys will be considered.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred but not required.
  •  2 + years’ experience of material handling or production control, preferred.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, to manage time effectively.


Work Environment/Physical Demands: 

  •  Must pass PIT Exam to obtain forklift license and operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Warm working conditions during warm seasons; cooler conditions during cooler seasons.
  • (Heat Treat temperatures can reach an excess of 125 degrees).
  • Job requires lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Continual walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
