About the Role:

Our Client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Immigration Attorney to lead a specialized project focused on I-9 compliance, review, and maintenance. This role requires a deep understanding of immigration law, HR compliance, and employment verification to ensure regulatory adherence across our organization.

The ideal candidate will audit, update, and correct I-9 records, implement best practices for compliance, and work closely with internal teams to mitigate risk. While this role is primarily a short-term compliance project, there is potential for expansion into broader HR compliance initiatives across multiple subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review and audit of I-9 documentation to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

  • Identify and rectify discrepancies in employment verification records.

  • Develop and implement best practices for ongoing I-9 compliance in collaboration with HR and legal teams.

  • Utilize Workday and other HR management systems to maintain accurate employee records.

  • Provide legal guidance on employment verification and immigration compliance matters.

  • Ensure proper recordkeeping and documentation to minimize compliance risks.

  • Travel as needed to verify records and obtain necessary documentation.

  • Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Compliance teams across subsidiaries to standardize processes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in labor law, HR compliance, or employment verification.

  • Extensive knowledge of I-9 compliance regulations and federal employment verification processes.

  • Experience working with Workday HR systems or similar platforms.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while coordinating with global teams.

  • Willingness to travel as needed for documentation and verification.
