Hours, 7:30-4 30-minute lunch $15-$25 Brief description The position consists of working with both hardware and software to produce high-quality machined parts by interpreting client specifications, entering the specs into the machine, setting up tooling, and monitoring the operation of the machine. A successful machinist will have excellent math skills, critical thinking and communication skills, and the ability to handle complex machines and tools. Tasks • Determine the fixtures, tooling, and attachments necessary to complete jobs to specification. • Discuss project specs with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency and collaborate to modify designs when existing plans are not feasible. • Machine setup and tear-down, as well as basic maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, and parts replacement. • Modify machine speed, tooling, and cutting style to ensure precision accuracy of parts. • Oversee cutting process, adjust settings, and correct mistakes in real-time to eliminate errors. • Supervise machine temperatures, monitor coolant, and ensure machines have adequate warm-up and cool-down periods. • Inspect finished parts for accuracy and uniformity as first-line quality assessment. Qualifications and requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • CNC certification or minimum one year experience operating CNC machinery. • Experience with tools and maintenance schedules. • Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC software. • Strong math and analytical skills, as well as trouble-shooting and problem-solving ability. • Attention to detail. Working conditions • Full time. • Climate-controlled shop. • Day shift (night shifts available in the future). • $15-$25/hr depending on experience.
