Position Summary
The role of the Maintenance Technician is to perform a variety of semiskilled duties used in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial/mechanical equipment and machinery common to a USDA food processing facility. Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on building(s) and equipment.
Essential Functions
• Assists in the procurement of parts and planning of repairs
• Demonstrates 100% functionality to complete work orders as well as log corrective maintenance issues.
• Troubleshoot and evaluate mechanical equipment failures and perform necessary corrective actions on a wide variety of production equipment.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks and document essential information in the appropriate system.
• Read schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Demonstrate and understanding the company’s objectives including productivity, yields, food safety, quality, customer service and cost goals.
• Assists on daily inspections, emergency repairs, routine adjustments and follow periodic preventive maintenance schedule
• Model professional workplace conduct and adherence to company policies such as the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) compliance, attendance, punctuality, efficient and productive work habits, and good personal hygiene
• Ensure that work is performed safely in accordance with company standards.
• Enforce safety regulations and conformance of company policies.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Good working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to clearly communicate technical system issues.
• Must work effectively in a team setting as well as promote team and cooperation
• Ability to analyze work requirements and plan accordingly.
• Ability to work with single and three phase voltage.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or 0-6 months related manufacturing maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

• None. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

The work environment is in a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures typically ranging between 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit, and occasionally exposure to ranges between -5- and -51 degrees Fahrenheit. Noise levels are moderate to high. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors.
