SUMMARY: As a Senior Thermal Systems Project Engineer, you will lead a team of Design Release Engineers, overseeing the conception, design, development, validation, troubleshooting, and support of thermal hardware throughout the product development cycle. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll ensure timely delivery of release packages and resolve open issues for effective coordination with the Program Management team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to the Manager of Thermal Systems and contribute to the design, development, and validation testing of components within the Mobile Charging Unit (MCU) platform.
- Lead an agile team of Design Release Engineers to execute proper product development and engineering documentation across multiple projects.
- Define and document requirements for the Thermal System, incorporating customer, company, industry specifications, and regulations.
- Interpret and communicate simulation results for Thermal System optimization using software platforms such as Simulink, Flonex, Fluent, and SimSolid.
- Detail and perform the Design Validation Plan based on vehicle/system design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the complete life cycle of the project, from concept to launch, implementing lessons learned on subsequent products.
- Apply fundamental thermal physics to lead the progression of design maturity from concept to launch.
- Lead definition of system-level engineering targets to meet program requirements.
- Develop, research, and adhere to vehicle/product requirements documentation.
- Optimize packaging of Thermal components within limited space and resolve packaging incompatibilities through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Lead or perform mechanical test planning and reporting, coordinating with the Test and Validation team and third-party test facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve validation issues.
- Support product launch and pre-production builds, both virtual and physical.
- Establish relationships with suppliers, occasionally traveling for visits.
- Identify opportunities for cost and mass optimization, leading change requests through implementation.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
- Develop and manage thermal specifications and requirements at subsystem and component levels.
- Mentor early-career Thermal Systems Engineers.
- Standardize Thermal Systems Engineering approaches.
- Own the verification and validation of Thermal requirements, collaborating with Thermal test engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adept at overcoming obstacles with minimal supervision.
- Personal energy and passion for engineering with a "Get-it-done right the first time" attitude.
- Bachelor's (required) or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5-10 years experience in the automotive industry with emphasis on design release and/or integration across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong technical background in thermal sciences related to vehicle systems, motor drive/inverter applications, and battery systems.
- Excellent leadership skills, accountability, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to specify thermal management components based on requirements and specifications.
- Engineering knowledge of defined requirements and validation of component/system design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements, testing, and validation.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Familiarity with battery-based EV charging systems.
- Ability to perform thermal analytics and simulations using tools like Simulink, Flownex, Fluent, Accusolve.
- Experience creating multi-component virtual physics-based simulation models.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, RSS tolerancing, FMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, DFA, DFM, APQP, and engineering problem resolution.
- Proficient in Siemens NX/Team Center with a robust knowledge base of change management processes.
