Now Hiring: Controller – Construction Accounting Leader

Location: North Texas (Denton / DFW Area)
Reports To: CEO

About the Opportunity

Are you a numbers expert who thrives in the fast-paced world of construction? This is your chance to step into a key leadership role where your financial expertise will directly shape the future of a growing contractor in the utilities and infrastructure space.

We’re looking for a hands-on Controller who can not only manage the day-to-day accounting but also build the financial systems, reporting, and strategy that drive profitability and long-term success.

What You’ll Do

As Controller, you’ll be the backbone of financial operations, overseeing everything from payroll to P&L while partnering with leadership to ensure projects stay on track and profitable. You’ll:

  • Lead all core accounting functions (AP, AR, payroll, GL).

  • Deliver accurate, timely financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).

  • Manage job costing, WIP reports, and variance analysis to keep projects in check.

  • Standardize policies, procedures, and controls for long-term scalability.

  • Partner with leadership on budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning.

  • Support external relationships with banks, bonding companies, and auditors.

  • Mentor and grow accounting staff, creating a culture of accuracy and accountability.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7–10+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3+ years in construction.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Solid knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion.

  • CPA strongly preferred, but not required. Must bring CPA-level knowledge and judgment.

  • Proficiency with construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, QuickBooks, CMiC, etc.).

  • Strong communicator and partner to operations leadership.

Why This Role Rocks

  • Be at the heart of a fast-growing contractor on a path to expansion.

  • Have a seat at the table — you’ll work directly with ownership in a strategic role.

  • Lead the charge in building scalable systems and processes for the future.

  • Competitive pay, bonus opportunities, health benefits, PTO, holidays, and 401(k).

This isn’t just another Controller job. This is your chance to own the numbers, shape the strategy, and make an impact that fuels growth across North Texas.
