A painter assistant, also known as a painter helper assists a lead painter with many things but will be mainly rolling out walls.
These tasks include:
- Preparing areas: Cleaning, taping, and protecting furniture and floors
- Removing old paint: Using a sandblaster or other tools
- Sanding and buffing: Leveling surfaces
- Mixing colors: Achieving desired color or consistency
- Applying finishes: Including primers, sealers, plaster, and other fillers
- Applying designs and lettering: Identifying or decorative items
- Using tools: Including rollers, spray guns, putty, steel wool, wire brushes, scrappers, and paint remover
